Based on the western bank of Lake Nasser, Abu Simbel is home to two massive rock temples built by Ramesses II. The temples boast four colossal statues carved out of the living rock, fastened to the cliff wall depicting the scene of Ramesses II seated with the double crown of Lower and Upper Egypt. Explore the construction by entering the artificial dome and learn about how the site of Rameses' temple vanished the water of the lake. Also observe the interiors of the temples that lead to a sanctuary comprising of four seated statues of Ra-Horakhty, Amun, Ptah and Ramesses.
