In the Gezira Exhibition Grounds, opposite the Cairo Opera House sits the beautiful Museum of Modern Art which houses a vast collection of 20th and 21st century Egyptian art including pictures, statues and graphics. There are some truly stunning works in the museum, but it is sometimes difficult to appreciate the work given the cramped rooms, collected dust and lack of signage. Hanging from those walls are some great works of the well-known Egyptians and foreign artists who once lived in Egypt. There's also a small cafe and gift shop upstairs.
