Established in 1998 as the first independent, non-profit art space in Egypt, the Townhouse Gallery of Contemporary Art has established itself as one of the active, leading art spaces in Cairo. The Townhouse Gallery encourages artistic work in a wide range of media through exhibitions, educational initiatives and outreach programs. It has expanded over the course of the last years to accommodate for demands in the field of visual and performing arts. It also has a large workshop situated across the street, for classes and confabs.
