Gajah Mada served as a chief minister of King Hayam Wuruk in the 14^th century. This prominent leader was believed to have brought prosperity to the Hindu Javanese kingdom. The statue depicts him as a strong-willed man, and has been erected in one of the prime locations of South Jakarta.
