Selamat Datang Monument or Welcome Monument is one of the historic landmarks of Jakarta. The monument, whose design was sketched by Henk Ngantung, was completed in 1962. The statue depicts two bronze statues of a male and female waving in a welcoming gesture. The monument is situated in the center of a roundabout which is known as Bundaran HI or Bundaran Hotel Indonesia. During Jakarta’s Car-Free days, this roundabout is filled with people doing cycling and jogging.
