The National Museum of Western Art is a prominent public art gallery in Japan specializing in art from the Western tradition with its roots in French impressionism. One of several museums in the Ueno area, this magnificent gallery focuses on drawings, sculptures and paintings by European artists. All the big names are here, particularly Manet, Rodin, Miró and the Dutch Masters, including French laureates like Boucher and Fragonard. The museum has about fifty works by Auguste Rodin. The prints collection features works by Durer, Holbein, Rembrandt, Callot, Piranesi, Goya, and Klinger, from 15th century to the early 20th century.
