Founded in 1877, the National Museum of Nature and Science or National Science Museum covers both science and natural history with hands-on physics and robotics experiments, and boasts one of the richest histories of any museum in Japan. It is the Japan's only nationally administered comprehensive science museum, dedicated to the history of the physical sciences, natural history and technology. This large, sprawling museum serves as a keeper of a valuable collection of over 4 million specimens, and offers a wide variety of natural history exhibitions and interactive scientific experiences. Even the giant life-sized replica of blue whale at the entrance of the museum is hard to miss.
