Lies within the grounds of the controversial Yasukuni Shrine, is the Yushukan, a Japanese military and war museum that is dedicated to the souls of two and a half million Japanese soldiers who died fighting for the Emperor of Japan. The museum contains several artifacts and documents depicting Japanese war casualties. This is probably the first and oldest war memorial museum in Japan.
