City: Georgetown
Description:

The Penang Botanical Gardens, more popularly known as the 'Waterfall Gardens' because of the cascading waterfall nearby, is a park like place with lovely plants, lots of monkeys and nice walking paths. The garden was established in 1884 by the British from an old quarry site. The Botanical Gardens also play a significant role in the field of horticulture and landscaping development. The gardens spread over 30 hectares of forest hills and lush green tropical trees and plants. One can also catch a view of the magnificent waterfall up on the hills above the reservoir. Surrounded by natural rainforests, the Gardens are truly Penang's treasure natural heritage.
