City: Malacca
Description:

This is the oldest functioning temple in Malaysia and a premier historical monument that has survived the ravages of time. It was commissioned by Kapitan Lee Wei King, with materials and craftsmen specially brought in from China to construct this beautiful temple. It still remains the central place of worship for the Buddhist community in Malacca. Particularly notable for its carved woodwork, the temple is dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin.
