Heeren Street, also known as the 'First Class Gentlemen Street' is full of late 18th-century two-storey buildings similar to that of modern terrace houses, portraying a detailed mix of Chinese and European architecture. On the parallel street is the Jonker Street, which used to house mainly traders and merchants. The streets are also famous for its antique goods, as well as its carnival-like atmosphere during weekend nights.
