Located on İstiklal Avenue, the Sant'Antonio di Padova Church or St. Anthony of Padua Cathedral dates back to 1912. It is one of the most important churches and the largest church of the Roman Catholic cathedral in the city. This buildign was designed by the architect known as Giulio Mongeri, who also designed various other buildings in Istanbul. Pope John XXIII preached in Sant'Antonio di Padova Church for 10 years before being elected as pope.
