Description:
Placed in Fazilet Sokağı, the Zeyrek Mosque is an example of architecture of the Byzantine middle period. This monastery originally comprised a library, two churches, a chapel, a hospital, and a cistern, but today only a cistern and one church remain. The rich decoration disappeared almost completely except a beautiful floor made with colored marbles and fragments of colored glass. The imperial chapel, surrounded by two domes is covered by barrel vaults. To the east of Zeyrek Mosque, a fine restaurant and tea garden known as Zeyrek Hane is opened, which provides the view of Golden Horn.
