Housed in the former School of Arts building, the Cairns Museum has a large number of collections which show the development of Cairns. It has displays on the Palmer river, construction of Cairns-Kuranda railway and the contents of a Chinese temple. The museum has exhibits on various industries that played an important role in adding to the Cairns region's economy.
