Located only 3km from the heart of the city, Albert Park is a 225 hectare sporting and recreational park which is popular for a range of activities like dog walking, jogging, cycling, sailing and rowing. Since 1996, Albert Park has been home to the Australian Grand Prix, and in every March the surrounding roads are transformed into track for the Australian Formula One. Other attractions include sporting facilities, playgrounds, ovals, restaurants, and walking and running paths. There's a large lake, which is home a gorgeous family of swans, and visitors can even join the yacht and rowing club, or hire a boat and go for a paddle. Sporting facilities include a golf driving range, gymnasium and the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Center.
