Founded in 1861, the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is Australia's oldest and the largest public art gallery which has been the focus for the local arts community for years. The NGV encompasses the transformed NGV International, located on St. Kilda Road, and The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, located at Federation Square. The Gallery's Australian collection covers Indigenous art, Australian colonial painting, Australian Impressionist painting, and modern and contemporary Australian art. The international collection includes European painting, fashion and textiles, prints and drawings, photography, Asian art, decorative arts, sculptures, antiquities and contemporary art.
