Commenced in 1793, Elizabeth Farm contains part of the oldest surviving European building in Australia and a rare example of an early Australian colonial bungalow, built as the home of John and Elizabeth Macarthur. As such, it was the birthplace of the Australian wool industry and was an important social, political and cultural centre of the early colony.
