Being a former power station, the Powerhouse Museum opened in the same site in year 1988 and is the largest in entire Australia. The museum comprises of 22 permanent exhibition spaces as well as 5 temporary ones, housing around 358,000 objects under one roof. Diverse collections of items related to science, technology, creativity, decorative arts, Australian culture, communication, transport, costume and furniture are housed by the museum.
