Description:

The National Portrait Gallery is one of the popular art galleries in London which features a portrait collection of historically important and well known British people. It was commenced during 1856 and was the first portrait gallery of its time in the whole world. During 1896, the gallery moved to its current site at St Martin's Place, off Trafalgar Square. It has been expanded two times since then. Besides this, the National Portrait Gallery has three regional outposts at Bodelwyddan Castle, Beningbrough Hall and Montacute House.
