The largest open space in the city centre, Piccadilly Gardens is based at one end of the Market Street in East Central. Comprised of the water fountains and grassy areas this park makes an ideal place for the tourists to relax or to meet friends. These gardens were once the site of Manchester Royal Infirmary and lunatic asylum and after these were closed the place was transformed into a beautiful park. The gardens are also host to Manchester events and concerts throughout the year.
