City: Berlin
Description:

Köllnischer Park is a large city forest park located near the River Spree in Mitte. The name Köllnische is derived from the medieval town of Cölln, one of the two cities that came together to form Berlin. The park came into existence in the 18th and 19th centuries, which was further redesigned as a public park and then modified in the 20th century with an addition of a bear enclosure, Barenzwinger. The park has still retained enough of its original nature so as to attract both locals and visitors from outside.
