Description:

Palazzo Altemps is a branch of National Roman Museum, consisting of Greek and Roman sculptures which belonged to various families of Roman nobility in 16th and 17th centuries. It exhibits about 104 sculptures which were purchased from Ludovisi-Boncompagni family by the Italian State in 1900. Outstanding among them are the Gaul Killing Himself and His Wife, the Grande Ludovisi Sarcophagus, the Ares restored by Bernini and the Athena restored by Algardi.
