On the so-called Piccolo Aventino (little Aventine) which is to the southeast of the main Aventine hill, behind FAO. In the eighth and ninth century, San Saba was one of the most prestigious monasteries of Rome. The church has been built up over many centuries and contains a variety of architectural styles.
