Designed and built in 1850, the Vondelpark has become one of the famous places for tourists as well as locals to enjoy numerous outdoor activities. Initially named as Nieuwe Park, the park's 47 hectares expansive area serves a great place for hiking, biking, jogging and similar activities. The park also has a Filmmuseum and an open air theatre which features various types of music and other performances. Being the largest city park in Amsterdam, it has significant water bodies, trees dating back to 150 years as well as some herbs and bushes which complete its landscape.
