Museo Marítimo de Barcelona or the Maritime Museum of Barcelona is one of the most imginative museums in the city and an institution dedicated to maritime culture with over 75 years of history. Located in the building of the Royal Dockyards which is the largest and the most complete old shipyard conserved in the world, the museum is certainly one of the most interesting sights and one of the most visited too. The fascinating artifacts in the museum include ships of all shapes and sizes, dioramas and maps. The centerpiece of the museum, however, is a huge full-size replica of Juan de Austria's Lepanto "galera".
The museum is currently working on the renovation of its permanent exhibition. Visitors can have access to only temporary exhibitions.
