Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, housed in a Neo-classical mansion from 1806 is named after Baron Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza and his son Hans Heinrich who assembled the museum collection. The museum is home to paintings as well as sculptures and decorative objects. The Thyssen collection offers visitors a tour of the history of European painting, from its origins in the 13th century to the final years of the 20th century. It gives the visitors an insight to some important trends including the early Italians through the late Surrealism and the emergence of Pop Art in the 1960s.
