Built by the Italian immigrants to Montreal to commemorate the apparition of the Madonna in La Difesa, this church has been declared a National Historic Site of Canada and is best known for its fresco depicting fascist leader Benito Mussolini. Guido Nincheri painted the controversial fresco of Mussolini on horseback above the high marble altar.
