Friedrichshain Park is the oldest municipal park situated on the border of the Berlin neighborhoods of Friedrichshain and Prenzlauer Berg, and has been a popular retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life for over 160 years. The park was constructed in 1846 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ascension of Frederick the Great. The main attraction is the great fairy fountain that shows characters from the Grimm fairy tales and other animal forms. The 78 meter high bunker mountains provide a wonderful view of the city. Especially in the summer, the Friedrichshain is a great place for the weekend hang-out.
