City: Cairo
Description:

Unlike other museums with displays in glass cases, the Gayer-Anderson Museum is totally a different kind of experience where one feels like a part of the history of the place itself, may be because this museum was once a house and people once lived here. The museum gets its name from the British major and army doctor, John Gayer-Anderson who resided in the house between 1935 and 1942. It is noted for being one of the best preserved examples of 17th century architecture left in Cairo, and for Anderson's vast collection of furniture, carpets, and other objects.
