City: Cairo
Description:

This fascinating museum was specially built to house the works of one of Egypt's most celebrated sculptors, Mahmoud Mukhtar (1891-1934) who was also the first sculptor in the modern Egyptian art movement. His collection ranges from tiny caricatures to life-size portraits. Mukhtar's tomb sits in the basement. This elegant building designed by the Egyptian architect Ramses Wissa Wassef houses around 85 bronze, stone and plaster sculptures by the eminent sculptor.
