City: Tokyo
Description:

With 42 gallery spaces and a total of 14,000 square meters of exhibition space, the National Art Center is one of the largest museums in Japan. Established in 2007, this is a unique and innovative art exhibition facility and one of its kind in Japan, which focuses on serving as a venue for various art exhibitions, instead of maintaining a permanent collection. The structure, designed by Kurokawa Kisho, itself is also a work of art. There's a wonderful art library on the top floor, and hovering over the grand lobby is a branch of celebrity-chef Paul Bocuse's Michelin-starred restaurant. It also promotes outreach activities through its educational programs.
