City: Tokyo
Description:

This strolling, pond-style garden, located far off from the crowded and over energetic Tokyo, takes its place as one of the top Japanese landscape gardens in Tokyo. The Rikugien Garden is a typical example of the famous gardens of Edo period, and the word 'Rikugien' refers to the six elements of ancient waka poetry. The park consists of a small central pond surrounded by manmade hills and forested areas, well connected by a network of trails, which wind around the gardens through forests and open lawns. There are also several teahouses in the garden that are opened to the public.
