City: Seoul
Description:
Located in the heart of Seoul, this is one of the Five Grand Palaces of the Joseon Dynasty, the most of which was destroyed by Japan during the colonial period; perhaps the most degrading action was to transform the palace into a zoo and a botanical garden. The palace was then relocated in 1983 to regain its original status after years of restoration. This is now a popular tourist attraction with many points of interests such as the Honghwa Gate, the Okcheon Bridge, ponds, etc.
