City: Seoul
Description:
This is Seoul's grandest Joseon Dynasty-era palace and the seat of power for centuries before it was burnt to ashes during the Japanese invasion in 1592 (and again by the Japanese in 1910). Since then, the walled complex has been gradually restored back to its original form. Commonly referred to as the Northern Palace, it is probably the most beautiful and grandest of all five palaces in Seoul.
