Opened in 1987, King Rama IX Royal Park is the largest public park of Bangkok.  This park was built to commemorate King Bhumibol’s 60th birthday.  Comprising an area of 81 hectares, the royal park consists of a botanic garden and a water park.  The park has been divided into distinct areas such as a wetlands area, the Garden of the Great King and an open field where festivals are hosted.
