Formerly a palace of Ottoman Sultans, Topkapı Sarayı Müzesi is based on the promontory of the historical peninsula in Istanbul. Overlooking the Marmara Sea and the Istanbul strait, it represents the history of the Sultans through the exhibits displayed. The museum depicts fine examples of Ottoman architecture along with collections of weapons, shields, armors, porcelain, Ottoman miniatures, Ottoman treasures and jewelry as well as Islamic calligraphic manuscripts and murals. Also don't miss to see the Ottoman textiles, silk royal robes, jewel-encrusted ceremonial objects and musical instruments.
