Türk-Islam Eserleri Müzesi is the first museum hosting Turkish and Islamic art exhibition together and is based in Sultanahmet Square in Fatih district. Also known as the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art, it exhibits the religious and other Turkish treasures dating back to the 8th century. The displays include Quran manuscripts, books, Islamic calligraphy, bejeweled objects, miniatures, woodwork, metalwork and glasswork. The museum also showcases Turkish carpets, kilims, ethnographic collections including a Yurt, a 19th century Ottoman parlor and exhibits of traditional handicraft techniques.
