Built in 1787, Dubai Museum is the oldest existing building in Dubai. It houses local antiquities and artifacts from Asian as well as African countries that traded with Dubai. The museum has colorful dioramas which show the economic and social life in Dubai before the discovery of oil. Dubai Museum also has an impressive display of weaponry including swords, hanjars, arrows, bows, shields of shagreen, spears, pistols and axes.
