The University of Sydney’s Main Quadrangle is medieval Gothic style architecture, similar to that of Cambridge and Oxford, with a single jacaranda tree in the courtyard. The Main Quadrangle was commenced in 1855 with the construction of the East Range and the Great Hall. It has been indicating the growth and development of the University of Sydney since its inception, and has now become the symbolic and functional heart of the University.
