The Gasometers are the four former gas tanks that were built as part of the Vienna municipal gas works Gaswerk Simmering in 1896-1899, which later got converted into a new urban complex by four architectural teams. Now each gasometer is divided into several zones for residential apartments, offices and shopping malls, which are connected by skybridges. Other facilities including a cinema, music hall, student accommodation, municipal archives, etc. are located inside the gasometers.
