City: Berlin

The former head office of the Ministry of State Security now houses a research and memorial center focused on the GDR's political system - the Stasi Museum. Today, the exhibition includes low-tech surveillance and observation devices (hidden in watering cans, rocks and even neckties) such as wires and infrared beamers. The museum also contains Stasi memorabilia including a prisoner's transport van and containers to disguise weapons transport. The exhibits in the museum provide a good impression of the Stasi operations during the Cold War era.
