City: Dusseldorf

Built in 1683 in a style of the early baroque, the Neander Church is officially the oldest Protestant church in Dusseldorf, and was named after the theologian, composer and teacher, Joachim Neander, in 1916. Neander was the first German hymnist after the Reformation, and is still regarded as the outstanding hymn writer of the German Reformed Church.
