Hamburger Kunsthalle, based on Glockengießerwall is the largest art museum in Germany that was founded in 1817 and was called as art museum in 1846. The museum is a symbol of civic engagement since while its construction two third amount was paid by private donors. The collections include Dutch paint work of the 17 century; the Medieval alters of Master Francke and Master Bertram, impressionism and classic modernism, paintings of the German romanticism period and international contemporary art of 1950.
