Opened in Bergedorf castle in 1955, Museum für Bergedorf und die Vierlande is a branch of the Museum of Hamburg's History that reveals the cultural history of Bergedorf. The museum collections date back to the civil association founded in 1847 and include some prehistoric finds from the surrounding marshlands. Highlights include armories, torture instruments and other objects from the Middle Ages and early modern period. Other collections include examples of the Vierlande's crafts, classic furniture, costumes and jewelry.
