Founded in 1879, Museum für Völkerkunde is one of the largest ethnographic museums in Europe and sees itself as a meeting place for the people of all cultures. With its style of late Art Nouveau architecture as well as ornaments and sculptures, the museum has become a popular attraction for the tourists. The museum features collections from America, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Central Asia, and Oceania. Highlights include priceless treasures and stone sculpture of Aztec and Maya, textiles, pots, beautifully stained glass windows, samurai armor, Buddha statues and much more.
