City: Munich
Description: Nymphenburg Palace (Schloss Nymphenburg), Schloss Nymphenburg (Tram 16, 17: Schloss Nymphenburg). Apr-15 Oct: 09:00-18:00; 16 Oct-Mar: 10:00-16:00. Apr-15 Oct: Adults €11.50, Concessions €9; 16 Oct-Mar: Adults €8.50, Concessions €6.50. In the beginning it was one of the smaller residential palaces, now it is the biggest Baroque palace in Germany. It is possible to enter the palace. However, considering that only a few rooms are open to the public and that there is only scarce furnishings, it may not be worth the entrance fee, unless you are interested in the gallery of paintings of the numerous female friends og King Ludwig I. In contrast to the interior of the palace, entrance to the garden is free and it is an amazing place to relax. Benches and paths can be found throughout the garden. Several buildings are scattered throughout the palace gardens. Some of these buildings can also be entered for a small fee, but these buildings are not furnished, so the only attraction is the architecture. Also on the grounds is a restaurant adjacent to the royal greenhouses.
