Being a Romanesque-style Protestant church, Grossmünster is one of the three major churches in the city. It is said to be constructed in 1100 and was inaugurated in 1220. Founded by Charlemagne, it is said to be situated on former Roman burial grounds. Twin towers of the church are regarded as the most significant landmarks of the city of Zurich. Located in the old town of Zurich, it is also called as Great Cathedral and is a part of Dame Cathedral and St. Peter church.
