City: Merida

Named in honor of the founder of the city of Merida, Francisco de Montejo, this is the most important avenue of the city lined with houses developed by the henequen-industry barons. On either side of the road are some beautiful palaces and mansions, along with many buildings of historical importance. Along the avenue you can see sculptures and temporary exhibitions of artists from different countries. The area is full of restaurants, cafes and various shopping centers.
