City: Denver
Description:

The museum chronicles the little-known history of black cowboys, wranglers and ranchers in the American West, along with that of black doctors, teachers, miners, farmers, newspaper reporters and state legislators. The museum began as the personal hobby of Paul W. Stewart, who loved playing cowboys and Indians as a child. He started researching the history of the blacks in the West after meeting a black cowboy, and then he started exploring every corner of the American West, gathering almost everything to document the existence of cowboys.
