City: Los Angeles
Description:

Opened to the public in 1992, the Japanese American National Museum is devoted to preserving the history and culture of Japanese Americans. Its mission is to promote understanding of America's ethnic and cultural diversity by sharing the Japanese American experience. The museum contains over 130 years of Japanese American history, starting from the first Issei generation through the World War II incarceration to the present day. The permanent collection includes more than 60,000 unique artifacts, documents, photographs and oral histories of Japanese Americans. With well-preserved and meaningful exhibits, this is probably one of the best museums in Los Angeles.
